Keeping RV Campgrounds Safe and Secure

According to the RV Industry Association, 9 million families own recreational vehicles in the U.S. Summer is prime season for those RV owners to take to the road, many stopping to visit one or more of the 18,000 publically and privately owned campgrounds nationwide. But how safe are those campgrounds?

RV campgrounds are generally safe, but crime does occur. Crimes range from vandalism and theft to assault. The National Park Service maintains and secures its public RV campgrounds. Owners of private campgrounds have a responsibility to keep guests safe as well.

Campground Entry Security. Private sites typically have gated entrances with a campground security guard service in place to monitor check-ins. While an entire RV campground usually cannot be fenced for security, this initial entry point security measure sends a strong message to those who may be tempted to act inappropriately that the campground take security seriously.

Security Guard Company For Campgrounds. Illegal activity in RV campgrounds can take place at any time—day or night. An around-the-clock security guard team can patrol the campgrounds on foot and in vehicles. RV campgrounds are often isolated, making it difficult for police to answer a call for assistance quickly. RV campground security guards are onsite and ready to act instantly.

24/7 Security Camera Surveillance. Security camera technology now makes it easy and affordable to mount surveillance cameras strategically throughout the campgrounds including outside restrooms and at play areas, swimming pools, game rooms and other public locations. Camera feeds can be monitored 24/7 by onsite campground guards.

RV Owners Safety Suggestions. RV owners should take their own safety percaustions too—by locking their RV and pulling down blinds when leaving their site; installing security cameras inside and outside their RV that are linked to their cell phone and parking near other RVs so neighbors can keep an eye out for each other.
